Description of Project: 2,500ton salt storage building with an attached rear shed structure
The customer came to us for a building that would provide them with: Public bid.
The design needed to include: Design/Build of the building to meet performance spec.
Additional critical requirements: 30’ clear ceiling height, standing seam metal roofing with 20-yr weathertight warranty, and many other specific requirements.

We designed the building to the customer’s specs with the following features, including:

Dimensions: 50’W x 80’L x 30’H with an attached 50’W x 25’L x 14’H rear shed storage structure

Framing – Project specific designed post-frame building structure to resist the weight of the salt pile, as well as the local snow and wind loads. Pre-engineered clear span roof trusses to meet the interior space requirements.

Interior space – Thirty feet minimum vertical clearance to the bottom of framing for at least one third the interior floor area (center 20’) of the structure and continuing the full length. 12’ high interior barrier wall constructed of easily replaceable pressure treated wood wall with a 4” painted yellow salt storage limit line around perimeter of interior located at 10’ high.

Roof system – MBCI SuperLok® roofing is a mechanically field-seamed, vertical leg standing seam roof system that combines a 2-inch tall slim rib with exceptional uplift resistance and a 20-yr weathertight warranty. Roofing color MBCI Signature 300 Pacific Blue.

Exterior wall construction – 5/8” thick grooved hardboard plywood siding with a natural rough sawn cedar appearance, stained with Cabot solid color acrylic siding stain. Siding color Driftwood Gray. Clear Sunsky corrugated polycarbonate sidelight panels with 90% light transmission. Block N Roll roller curtain door to protect the door opening from pigeons, deer, salt leaching or clumping, and inclement weather.
